SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

As 2019 draws to a close and Christmas as well as the summer holidays beckon, we take a moment to reflect on the community we serve and how privileged we are to help people find the right property to call their home. After all, home is where the heart is. As Australians, we have much to be grateful for. We enjoy a wonderful climate, relative prosperity, and peaceful circumstances. Job creation is strong, we’re richer than we think, and, despite perceptions to the contrary, Australian income tax rates are below the average for OECD countries. However, within our community children and young people struggle to cope with problems like cyber-bullying, depression, homelessness, mental health or suicidal thoughts. That’s why we were proud to announce in February our nationwide sponsorship of Kids Helpline, Australia’s only free, private and confidential 24/7 online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25. Agents stand up against bullying Kids Helpline is a national helpline that has responded to more than 8 million contacts over the past 28 years, helping children; young people and families manage the challenges of modern life. The service aligns perfectly with First National’s we put you first philosophy because it puts the families that live in our community first. We want to make sure that Kids Helpline has the backing it needs to respond to more calls for support than ever before, at any time, for any reason, because all children and young people deserve to be heard’. Every 90 seconds, someone’s son or daughter, grandchild, niece, nephew, neighbour or friend gets in contact with Kids Helpline via its free call number or web chat service. With First National Real Estate’s support, Kids Helpline will become more powerful and better known across Australia. Young Achiever Awards In keeping with our commitment to community, First National Real Estate again underpinned the Seven News Young Achiever Awards with its national sponsorship throughout 2019. Our two awards – The First National Real Estate Leadership Award and the First National Real Estate Innovation Award – help communities provide recognition to young achievers who are making a difference. Broad based community initiatives Around the country, First National Real Estate’s members proudly participated in countless fundraising activities within their communities. Our Summer of Surf sponsorship engaged Australians with surf lifesavers and the vital role they play in water safety. Sponsorship of Variety’s Postie Bike Dash was extended for a further three years, helping assure that almost 200,000 disadvantaged kids will continue to receive a fair go. Support for Ronald McDonald House Charities ‘Ride for Sick Kids’ continued, with members riding thousands of kilometres to raise funds. Ongoing sponsorship of the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Brisbane Bullets underpinned our commitment to creating opportunities for kids to engage with their sports role models. Free tickets to Thunderbirds regional clinics provided chances to teach children the virtues of good sportsmanship and fair play. Plus, rural Australia received support from individual offices through the Buy-A-Bale initiative and our long-term sponsorship of AgQuip Gunnedah – Australia’s largest agriculture show where First National Real Estate has maintained a permanent exhibition for two decades.
